Write the
bad things that are done to you in sand, but write the good things that happen
to you on a piece of marble.
Skillful sailors aren't
made by smooth seas.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
I’m not saying I have been in a painful life but like everyone I had some bad
and difficult days. Days that can be considered as stormy seas, days that taught me a lit bit how life works. Thus, I chose those 3 proverbs above because I think that they fit pretty well with my life experience.
From my point of view, the first and the second proverbs go really well together. While the first proverb says to forget the bad things and remember only the good things, the second proverb says that without bad experiences and struggling moments in life we wouldn't improve our "skills". So, it is more like forget what happened because you cannot changed the past and also is not healthy overthink bad things; however, learn something from them because one day these learning will be useful.
The last proverb reminds me a lot my parents. They have been saying this for me since I was kid. Although they've been saying in two different situations, it has the same idea, which is like everything takes time until gets done. When I was younger my dad used to say "You can achieve any goal you want but remember Rome wasn't built in a day" which means that if I be committed and work hard everyday, one day I will achieve my goal, don't matter how difficult it is, whereas my mom used to say this proverb for me every time that I had a serious injury (it wasn't once) that would make me incapable to walk or practice sports.
